As you can see from above the feedback is mostly quite positive with a few negatives. Both bits of feedback seem to really like the work and the final outcome but don't see how I came to the final resolution.
To a degree I agree with the feedback. At this stage I was only working on sheets without using a sketchbook because I thought it would be easier to organise which isn't right at all. I realised after this that I really needed a better way of organising my work in an ordered way and so started using the sketchbook for No News Is Good News.

I think this is the strongest project that I have done so far. To start the project I got straight into just experimenting and building more and more ideas ovr time whereas in the past projects I spent a long time trying to come up with a really good idea to start with and then rushing to improve it and finally make the resolution.
I am really pleased with the way that it has come out and I think it does well in representing Chris's personality traits. Chris seemed to agree too.
I am happy with the finished idea and I think that it was complex enough to be quite interesting and also quite far changed from the original letterforms that I manipulated. The use of black and white was definitely a good idea because I don't think that colour would have made the letters as bold as they are now.
The above feedback also suggests that the images inside the letterforms cant be seen as linked to any country at all. I understand what they mean by this because a lot of the image had to be cut out to make it fit within the letter, but I did try to make sure the images could be recognised anyway. Some images worked far better than other, for example the lion in K.
I think with the information about what each letter stands for it is clear what images are shown within the letters.
The biggest issue with this resolution is the spacing across the page. Because the letters are so tall, I didn't think to compensate for fitting them all in to the page on top of each other. As a result they only just fit on to the page with litterally millimeters to spare in some cases. The effect that it has is that some letters actually touch from top to bottom and it creates a merged effect where you can't really tell where a letter ends unless you identify what it should look like and not what it does look like.
This is something that should be resolved by shrinking each letter a really small amount and then reapplying to the tracing paper.
Overall this was a really successful brief and I think I managed work and time really well. I will be looking to take this approach into the next projects and hopefully coming out with similar results.
