The feedback for this brief is pretty positive but also has some negativ things which I really didn't even think of while I was doing the resolution. I suppose thats why it's so useful to have this feedback and now I can try and solve these issue in future briefs.
The majority of the feedback is really positive, saying that the posters are high impact, really visually bold and quite clear about what is being said.
Some of the feedback suggested that the statements of text weren't very clear but I don't really agree. I don't see how I could have been clearer than having a bold headline and then a paragraph which litterally explains what the whole set of posters are about but I suppose it could be something to do with the language that I used. The language is quite corporate and I think some people would have difficulty being interested enough to read it or might assume that it isn't important. I used this tone of voice to relate more to the government style 'official' language that is used in a high up political level. I did think about changing the tone of voice in case this problem occurred but I decided to keep it in the end.
Another comment says that the character with the TV on his head doesn't make sense and doesn't relate to free speech in any way. That's because it isn't suppose to relate to free speech, it is supposed to represent the media. I found it quite difficult to come up with a symbol for the media (TV, newspaper, computer, radio) but I eventually settled on a TV because that is probably the clearest sense of media consumption across the country. But it seems that the TV isn't even a clear representation of media, so I think that more research had to be done into finding an image that could properly represent it.
I thought that it would be clear by having the paragraph on the text page explain that it is about the government controlling the media, but I think the 'free speech' headline at the top of the page must have been confusing.
Other than this, the comments are really good and touch on things which I was trying to express.
I quite like these posters as a set. Overall I am happy with what I have produced but there are some things that really bug me about it. For some reason I really don't like the stance of the man holding the gun. It is really solid and straight and quite uncofmfortable to look at. I guess in a way that isn't such a bad thing because the posters are supposed to portray dicomfort and negativity.
Again, there is something about the text poster which I am not sure about and I think it is the size of the lettering in the smaller paragraph. I think it is just a bit too big and becomes quite a focus of the poster when it is supposed to be a small part of it.
Other than thesefew things, I am quite pleased with the posters and I think they show off my style and show that I have out in a lot of effort in designing and creating them.
As well as the actual content of the posters, I really like the satin paper that they are printed on and I think it works perfectly for a poster. The vectorised graphics of Adobe Illustrator make the perfectly smooth lines and edges on the paper and it all looks really professional.
My time management and speed of work were good in this project too and I got a lot done. There was a slightly slow start when I couldn't think of an original idea but I quickly realised that I needed any starting point to work from and then my work started becoming a lot easier to develop.
I am really pleased with the way this project turned out.
