YCN - Analysing the Briefs

The next step was to choose which brief we wanted to use for this half of the module. To start this, everyone picked 3 of the briefs that they wanted to do and 1 that they did not. I printed out the 3 that I did want to do and annotated them slightly to get them straight in my head.

I picked this brief because I thought it would be interesting experimenting with different ways of using the paper in promotional ideas using folding and tearing etc but looking a bit closer I decided that the brief was a bit too vague and pretty much anything was possible within it as the brief seems to have come out of just a want for promotion rather than a real problem so they seem to be looking for just any good ideas to take onboard.
This brief originally appealed to me because it looked quite simple and fun but looking a bit closer I have seen that it is extremely vague and doesn't really have a specific outcome.

This brief originally looked good because it involves branding and a promotional campaign of some sort and has a lot of scope for creative possibility. This brief is much more specific than the others and has a clear point of what is expected in terms of products, promotion, audience etc. This is my favourite brief of the lot.

There were a few of the briefs on the YCN website that I wasn't interested in looking at at all, specifically the Fairtrade brief as it required video which just took up loads of time in the last module.
