- I want to work primarily in image based design above all else. This would include illustration, branding, animation or anything which doesn't force me to rely solely on type skills.
- I would really like to be able to design for an ethically concerned side of design. I want to make a difference with what I do.
- I think I would like to start in a relatively small studio, maybe nothing too big to start with. As I gain confidence and experience I am undecided as to moving into a larger firm or attempting the freelance route.
- I want to promote myself through a website and use other web-based mediums like design networks (Behance) and blogs. I also want to create a decent business card and CV combination that can be used for personal visits. Branding myself would be important.
- I want to keep in touch with as many people on the course as possible. I get on well with most people and everybody is really talented in different fields. Everyone will go off in different directions and everyone will attend different design events and work for different companies so there would be a lot of networking opportunities.
- I want to be constantly learning new things, if not in a specialist field then throughout the graphic design industry as a whole. I will always need to be as up to date as I can.
- I want to have worked in a variety of design based situations i.e. not just one design agency, but maybe some work placements at places like printers etc.
- I would like to live in either Hertfordshire where most of family is or somewhere in the north such as Leeds. From Herts I would have a good point to commute to London for work and I love Leeds as well, so either are good opportunities.
- I will need to develop an extensive portfolio that shows off the best of my skills. I think that I want to develop one or two specific specialist areas, as these tasks have shown me that when people try to do everything it can make nothing particularly brilliant.
- Overall I want to always enjoy my career. The only reason I ever did art and developed into graphics was because I enjoy it. If I realise that that has stopped then I would probably strongly consider a change.
