Enterprise Task 3 - How Will I Promote Myself

There are a few different ways that I could market myself to potential clients and customers which would work effectively including a website and using design networks. There are also more personal ways to market myself like more personal networking where things like business cards can be used. In a similar way I could arrange meetings with design companies and agencies to take a look at their work and their offices while also taking the opportunity to promote a bit of myself with business cards or small examples of my own work relevant to what the company produces.

A website is sort of a must have for most companies or practical individuals in the present day. Almost every practicing professional, no matter what career or area of work, will have a website of some kind even if it is only in the form of a blog. A website becomes a personal space which can be creatively designed in any way the individual or company wants it to be so it effectively shows off the interests and style and personality of the person it is intended for and as such it can make an important first impression. Although I currently have a blog, it is quite messy and its main purpose is for assessment not impact. Sometime soon I will start to create a professional looking website that shows off my interests in graphic design and shows some of my work which could attract potential clients and prove a useful tool for self promotion.

Design networks like the Behance network could also be really effective in showing off some pieces of work. Each piece links directly to the designer's profile in Behance and shows more information like location and a link to the designer's personal website. In effect, the network becomes a hub of thousands of users and a starting point which gives opportunity for a lot of potential attention.

Arranging meetings with design agencies or even individual designers could be a good way to start networking across the design industry. By getting into contact with designers I can arrange to meet up face to face which will always have more impact than a webpage. By showing interest in them and picking appropriate companies I may be able to take the opportunity to show some of my own work or at the very least a business card which can become the link to a website or somewhere that they can view my work. This would be a start to networking with other designers and open up potential client possibilities in future.
