Portfolio Draft Design

Original draft design of my portfolio. I have tried to keep the design simple and let the work speak for itself, but I could do with some more projects and maybe a bit more description. Some of these photographs will need retaking or editing.

Potential Business Card Illustration?

This could be a potential design for the business card back illustration. It needs finishing though. I think it could fit a bit more in line with the front of the card.

Business Card Development - Illustration

For the back illustration I wanted to make it bold and have something kinda simple that I just like. So I came up with making a nice illustration of a lion, which is one of my favourite animals. In this was it will show the illustration skill and be more personal to me individually.

This starts showing the image I wanted to base my illustration on, and  a few examples of different shapes that the cards could take to show the image. It then goes on to show a few different experimental illustration styles.

The final design here is quite abstract, especially when split up into different sections. I'm a bit worried that this isn't the most appropriate design for the cards, and I might look into another. for now I may print this so that I have at least something ready to hand out if the opportunity comes.

Business Card Development

To be taken seriously as a professional, I need a business/ contact card. I want my card to show that I am a designer and illustrator (Maybe with a focus on illustration), and it needs to be bold and memorable as a card. To do this, I want to have my information on one side of the card and then an illustration covering the other side.

The idea that I have come up with is that my cards can be designed so that the illustration bleeds over several cards so that the image is made when the cards are lined up face down in order (Maybe 9 cards in total). It's unlikely that anyone would ever really get all 9 of the cards, but it would make a good display piece for the end of year show and I think it would definitely be memorable.

I started by designing the front of the card. I've gone for a hand drawn, illustrative style of type.

This isn't actually my website yet, I need to confirm it and potentially edit this design soon.

Time Management

In an attempt to stay more on top of time management this year I have put all of my individual brief deadlines into my google calendar and combined it with the course calendar from Moodle.

Briefs starting are labelled in green and respectively briefs ending are labelled in red. The music promotion brief is ongoing so it is labelled in purple every week to remind me. Anything personal will be in pink and all course stuff is in two shades of blue, with public holidays in a grey.

With any luck these should help me keep on top of things for this module.
